Dream bathtub

I've spent the last couple of days searching for a bathtub and I've been extremely disappointed with the selection we have in Finland. Just the usual white, the usual shapes, few black ones and that's it. There is definitely room for more innovative ideas and materials. This tub would be my first choice: Rapsel Ofuro by Matteo Thun. It is absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately not available in Finland.

Bugs

Bugs come with summer. You may not like them, but here they are again and all you can do is live with them. Some of them are actually quite beautiful and especially the ones in these fashion illustrations by Italian illustrator Cristian Grossi.

Helsinki beyond dreams

Helsinki beyond dreams is a new book about interesting urban culture and events created by inhabitants. Restaurant day is a great example of the events. I'm happy to be living in a city that becomes more open and innovative each day!

Midsummer

There's nothing like Scandinavian summer and it's once again time to celebrate the longest day of the year. I will be spending my Midsummer close to nature, in the same place where I have spent many summer days when I was a child.

Lost in the land of colours

I'm lost in the land of colours! I am trying to decide the colours of the walls in our new house and the obvious choice of all white feels boring. Right now I'm thinking of adding a little bit of indigo blue or dark green perhaps...

For a rainy day

Here's what we did on a rainy day. I bought this finger printing art set from Ateneum's shop some time ago. Yesterday when it rained all day and everyone under the age of seven was bored, I remembered having it and we gave it a try. It kept the children busy for quite some time.

Todo Muta wall art

These fantastic graphics are wall decals by Spanish design studio Todo Muta. Todo Muta was born as a 'graphic-object' studio and it focuses on designs on different surfaces such as fabric, walls, snowboards and ceramics. The studio also works together with other designers to create new products.
These and many other wall decals are sold by Accion Vinilo webstore. I might have to do some shopping there for my new walls...

Days of frustration

This weekend nothing is going as planned. This part of the renovation is the most exhausting one. When you think you have all the plans figured out, then obstacles start to occur, and turns out that your plans will not work at all. So frustrating! Seems I can't get the tub I want or the floor I want and previously lowered ceilings in the hallway are giving me a headache. Well, at least I can be happy about the beautiful stairs that truly revealed themselves when we removed a wall around them. I wish I could leave them without a railing...
