Bird juices

These funny and cute cartons are not in production yet but in my opinion they definitely should be. The cartons for fruit flavoured juices are a concept designed by Norwegian graphic designer and illustrator Mats Ottdal.  I'm waiting to see these birds in stores someday...

Lepokorpi AW1112

Saara Lepokorpi is talented and interesting Finnish fashion designer who makes stylish and very unique clothes. The collections include hand made, special pieces, locally produced at her studio in Helsinki. I have to say I really like her collections and especially these superb photos from her Autumn/Winter collection by Liisa Valonen.

Piles of suitcases

Belgian designer Maarten de Ceulaer has made these intriguing piles of suitcases exclusively for Gallery Nilufar. All pieces of the series were made in close collaboration with one of most renowned leather artisans in Brussels, Ralph Baggaley. They are both wardrobe cabinets and pieces of art at the same time...what a great idea and great colours.

Airport in a box

I'm not a big fan of airports because they are busy and usually quite ugly. However, this one I like and it's very nicely designed too. The portable play airport from MoMA Store is made out of wood and when playing is done, it can be stored in a box. The box size is roughly 25cm x 23cm and the set includes two aeroplanes, a helicopter and runway tracks.

Colours of snake

There is a snake in the house! This crocheted snake took me two nights to make. No rules, except use lot's of colours!

Dream bookshelf

I have a lot of books and I keep getting more because I can't help it -I love stories and the feel of the paper. I have tried to arrange our bookshelf so that it would look nice but still it does't look anything like this. Dream bookshelf by String.

Norwegian folklore

I found a traditional Norwegian pullower for my daughter at the fleamarket and for some reason I'm really liking the Norwegian folkloric patterns at the moment (maybe it's the cold weather...) Scarf (1) is from Amundsen Sports , pillows (2) from Pur Norsk and woolen dress for little girls by great, crazy company called Ugly Children's Clothing (3). All lovely and warm!

Northern milk

We drink a lot of milk in our household. Valio just launched a series of design milk cartons by eight famous designers. The new designs will be in stores in November. My personal favorites are the cat by Klaus Haapaniemi (my children will love this!), cow by Eero Aarnio and beautiful embroidered countryside landscape by Paola Suhonen. I also had to take a look at other milk cartons in Scandinavia and here are two nice examples from Swedish Arla (design by Neumeister) and Milko (design by United Power).

Winter style by Makia

It's getting colder outside and I need a new warm jacket for the winter. I'd like one of these Raglan-jackets by Makia clothing. Makia makes simple and stylish, good quality clothes that are just perfect for Finland's cold climate. Now the only question is, what colour should I get? The jacket comes in yellow, red, blue, olive green and black...

Weekend shopping

I did some shopping at the Korjaamo Market this past weekend. The packaging was already beautiful enough but here's what was inside: A bracelet so sweet that it could be mistaken for real candy and a Japanese book about wrapping and giftpackaging. The bracelet is from Elvari and book from Peikonpoika.

No ordinary quilts

American Sherri Lynn Wood makes quilts that are something else. Her modern quilts are made with wonderful color combinations and without a pre-determined pattern. You can find her work at daintytime.net. Lovely, isn't it?

Cooking playfood

Even a mediocre cook like me can turn thick and thin felt into playfood in no time! I'm especially proud of the egg...

Muakbabi

I bought a rug. Actually it is almost too pretty to be a rug and I might hang it on the wall as art instead. It is a felt rug by a Spanish, Madrid based company Muakbabi. They make unique house shaped rugs and wooden screens that transform into a playhouse. Muakbabi products are all made of the highest quality natural materials that come from the best providers across the world, all of whom are registered quality traders. The main material is felt made out of natural wool. The fabric patches are ethnic fabrics from around the world and they can act as imaginary doors for children to play with. And needles to say, the quality of the rug is excellent!

Unique and ecological

I love the mood in these photos from the latest collection by Ainokainen. Ainokainen is an ecological and innovative Finnish design brand. Clothes, accessories and jewelry are designed by Netta Kervinen and handmade in Finland. Netta uses textile industry's leftovers and recycled materials and turns old clothes or pieces of them into unique new garments. Beautiful and poetic!

Heavy pedal

Maybe your Monday starts with a bikeride to work or school. My mornings have started with heavy pedaling since I saw this beautiful silhouette mobile by Salty and Sweet and had to get it. It is above our kitchen table and reminds me to choose bike over car whenever I can.

Amulets

Me and the kids made soft amulets with white cotton fabric and textile markers. Once again fun and very simple: Just cut two round pieces from white fabric, draw on one side and iron the drawing. Then stitch front and back pieces together with right sides facing in. Leave a small opening for filling. Turn the work right side out, fill and close the opening with stitches. You can add a piece of string to complete the necklace.
Happy face for a good day, scary one for scaring off the bad mood...
Have a good weekend!

Let it rain

It is storming out and I'm happy to be inside the house. Rain and raindrops have inspired many and here are some cute things for the rainy days. My favorite is the 'cloud-fellow' Mr Nimbus by Goodbyebluemonday (1). Lightning storm cloud sterling silver necklace is from Asilomar shop in Etsy (2). Rain pillow and cloud mobile from Hops-shop (3,5) and gray pullover for kids from Quirky Collective.

Autumn

I am an autumn girl. I love the colors of  the fall, the shades of yellow and red and the clear, cool mornings. I also love the dark evenings when I can stay at home and have a cup of tea and do nothing.
What a great day!
