All that is solid

Sometimes a shop can look so beautiful you wish it were in your town. Unfortunately this one isn't. You have to go all the way to Osborne street, Glasgow for this. All that is Solid is a recently opened multi-purpose space: a cafe, shop and a meeting space. And it does look lovely!

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

Here is a designer-collection I definitely look forward to: French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela brings their collection to H&M stores on November 15th!

Paimio Sanatorium

Paimio Sanatorium is a former tuberculosis hospital in Paimio and designed by Alvar Aalto. I had a chance to visit the place recently and it sure was an intriguing visit. The white hospital building was completed in 1932 and it is now known as one of Aalto's main works. His starting point for the design was to make the building itself a contributor to the healing process. I couldn't agree more: The building is surrounded by peaceful pine forests and inside the bright colours, big windows and well planned details make it a much nicer hospital. 

At the moment it is uncertain what will happen to Paimio Sanatorium in the future but let's hope it will keep releasing it's healing powers for next generations too. And if you are ever in the neighborhood, take a tour to hear all stories behind the architecture!

The circus is in town

I had forgotten how enchanting and colorful the circus is! I don't even remember the last time I went to a circus but now I enjoyed a lovely evening there on Tuesday.

Three rugs for Saturday

Urban Outfitters has some cool new rugs in their collection. If the first one would come in bigger sizes, it would be my choice!

Normal is boring

One of my all time favourite painters, Osmo Rauhala, has an exhibition in Kiasma.

I found these beauties from the flea market.

DIY storage unit

We have a simple DIY storage unit for newspapers and magazines. It works well for shoes too. It's also very easy to make: Just make a simple frame and legs from wood, screw the first plastic box to the frame and then pile as many as you like on top. Our plastic boxes in different colours are from Zymotec.
