Ristipistoja ja paketteja

Kauniiden pakettien ei tarvitse olla kovin ihmeellisiä kunhan niissä on oma kädenjälki. Sen syntyy vaikka tekemällä paketteihin ristipistoin koristellut pakettikortit. Tarvitaan vaan kortit, neula ja lankaa! Yllä oleva tekemäni kuva löytyy myös uudesta joulukuun Dekosta joka on kaupoissa huomenna ja täynnä ihania ideoita jouluun.

The most beautiful Christmas presents are usually the ones that someone made especially for you. Or maybe someone simply added their own personal touch to the wrapping of the gift. The cross-stitched gift tags are easy to make and add that little bit of something. 

DIY joulukalenteri

Vielä ehtii tehdä helpon ja nopean joulukalenterin ennen kuun vaihdetta. Tehtiin lasten kanssa tämä seinälle ripustettava versio ruskeasta käärepaperista ompelukoneen avulla:

1. Taita käärepaperi kaksinkerroin ja piirrä esim.juomalasia apuna käyttäen 24 ympyrää ja leikkaa ne.

2. Numeroi 24 kpl ympyröistä leimasimilla tai käsin.

3. Ompele numeroitu etuympyrä yhteen takaympyrän kanssa ja sujauta ommellessa yllätys esim. karkki sekä ripustuslanka ympyröiden väliin.

4. Ripusta kaikki paketit nipuksi oksaan tai keppiin.

There is still time to make a simple diy Advent calendar. All you need is brown wrapping paper, a sewing machine and some sweets to hide inside.

Lazy days

Past few days have been full of delicious food,  friends and family quests and so lazy that I'm starting to be in need of some action. Christmas is a lovely holiday but I'm glad it's only once a year...

Viime päivät ovat olleet täynnä jatkuvaa herkkujen syöntiä, sukulaisten ja ystävien vierailuja ja ihanaa löysäilyä. Joulu on mahtavaa aikaa mutta onneksi se on vain kerran vuodessa. Nyt alkaa olla jo selkeä tarve ulkoilulle, auringolle ja actionille!

Stripes part 1

This Christmas will be striped! I've been making these crocheted ornaments during the evenings for some weeks now and start to have quite a collection. I will give them as presents to friends and save a few for the tree.

Tänä jouluna meillä on raidallista! Olen virkannut näitä raidallisia joulupalloja iltaisin telkkaria katsellessa ja nyt niitä on jo mukava kokoelma. Annan lahjaksi ystäville ja säästän muutamia kuusen koristeeksi.

Let's wrap!

All these beauties are wrapping papers. You can buy them from Wrap which is also a super good looking magazine introducing the very best in illustration and design. Every issue also includes sheets of wrapping paper from most talented illustrators at the moment. The latest issue is inspired by the Nordic countries and  many Finnish illustrators such as Janine Rewell and Klaus Haapaniemi are well represented in the magazine.

Soon we start counting !

Today I fixed our other Christmas calendar ready for December. I found this cardboard house from Dutch by design last year and it happens to have just perfectly 24 boxes. Originally, it came without numbers but today I made small numbers to each box with rubber stamps. Boxes will contain candies, stickers and other small surprises.

24 days

This no news anymore, since this room shaped Christmas calendar was published last year. However I never did get one, so I was pleased when I saw it in the bookstore again this year. Now I have a Christmas room of my own and it sure is pretty!

Family on holiday

We are on holiday this week and I must say this holiday is needed. This cardboard family by illustrator Sanna Pelliccioni is my only new Christmas decoration for this year since it's not really meant for Christmas only. It is sold as a card in Papershop and can be cut out so that it stands on a table.
