Maija Louekari book covers

Designer Maija Louekari who is best know for her works for Marimekko has illustrated a series of book covers for Bonnier. Books are available in here.
---
Maija Louekari joka tunnetaan parhaiten Marimekolle tehdyistä kankaista, on kuvittanut hauskasti 70-luvun hengessä kannet neljään Ruotsissa uudelleen julkaistuun klassikkoteokseen. Jokainen kirjoista käsittelee jollain tavalla naisen maailmaa ja oikeuksia. Pokkarit on julkaissut Bonnier ja kirjoja myy mm. Adlibris. Hyvä Maija!

Helsinki beyond dreams

Helsinki beyond dreams is a new book about interesting urban culture and events created by inhabitants. Restaurant day is a great example of the events. I'm happy to be living in a city that becomes more open and innovative each day!

Hooray for Helsinki!

This book is great! It is published by Tammi both in Finnish and English and it was released for the ongoing design capital year. It's a children's book including a story about a family's summer day out in Helsinki. It is also a book for anyone interested in Finnish design. There is plenty of information about designers, famous Finnish brands and interesting stories behind Helsinki's architecture.

Shopping and flipbooks

Napa Gallery & shop is one of my favourite places in Helsinki. If you haven't been there yet, pay a visit. Napa is both a gallery and a tiny shop, featuring young artists, graphic design and great selection of books you can't get anywhere else. Currently there is an exhibition of flipbooks. It presents all the entries of fourth international Napa flipbook contest. In December Napa is open every day for Christmas shopping. Maybe now it's time to go buy that Sissi braid necklace by Katri Inkeri...

Weekend shopping

I did some shopping at the Korjaamo Market this past weekend. The packaging was already beautiful enough but here's what was inside: A bracelet so sweet that it could be mistaken for real candy and a Japanese book about wrapping and giftpackaging. The bracelet is from Elvari and book from Peikonpoika.

Let's make art!

This inspiring book by illustrator Marion Deuchars offers interactive, stimulating, easy-to-do art projects for artists of all ages. You can practice how to make Mona Lisa's smile or do your own Jackson Pollock style painting. The book is available at Amazon bookstores.

Spellbinding book

I'm a book lover. Especially I'm a fan of great illustration. 'Lumoojien sukua'-book by Nemo publishing is gorgeous! It's actually a pack of two books -one telling a story about a little girl and the other telling spellbinding tales of women that maybe had something to do with witchcraft. The illustration is by Benjamin Lacombe who has done very impressive work including a stunning pop-up book about the world's most known fairytales. If you can get a hold of this book or any of his books, please do -each one is a piece of art.
